Ray L. Gribben was from Minburn, Iowa (Dallas County). In his early working years he was an instructor at the Massachusetts Agricultural College. He later returned to Iowa to take up farming and to teach at Iowa State College in Ames. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and various clubs and societies, and served on the Dallas County Board of Education. He was interested in raising dahlias and gladiolus and did some writing. The first county farm bureaus in the state of Iowa were organized in Clinton and Scott counties on September 1, 1912.
